Rotating Warning Light Reminds You of Danger Watto's New & Used Components Rotating Warning Light Reminds You of Danger

Alright, we've kept you in the dark looooong enough. We plan for this level to be a "Showcase" or "Gallery" level in the truest sense as it really is a gallery! As you may notice, a variety of influences contributed to this project including the imperialistic prefab sector project proposed 1-2 years ago by (we believe) Alex G, an extension of the preview feature for BMs in WDFUSE and 3DOs in Wedit, and primarily out of the frustration of "reinventing the wheel" on many differing levels; literally.

The primary objective of this level is to display each of these items the way they truly appear in the Dark Forces environment and to edify those who have spent so much time and effort creating these items.

Showcase for Smaller 3DOs Appearing to Rotate on Pedestals

To take this a step farther, resulting in at least 2 additional benefits, we will first be placing strong emphasis on accuracy to realism with sectors tweaked precisely to the apparent shape of 3DOs so they not only l66k but feel as though they were solid objects so that others will not have to guess every time they use them in a level. Second, in hopes that this will yield a new generation of high quality design work, we plan to use a new concept to shed some light on every angle of these beautifully detailed items by including such things as lifts and a new technique for actually allowing one to "walk on" and inspect certain 3DOs.

To rotate a 3DO:

FLAGS: 16
D_YAW: 50
RADIUS: 2
HEIGHT: 2

As you may have read in the Forums, the first problem we ran into was setting up a rotating pedestal, similar to those found in a jewelry store, to give a true 360 degree view of 3DOs. As we mentioned before, we had to take an unfortunately prolonged break from Dark Forces to expand GateWay Marketing Online, our full-service web design and development company, and have to relearn many of the advanced techniques. In this instance, we were able to solve the problem of spinning the pedestal, but forgot that the ceiling would rotate as well. To solve this, we reverted back to a stationary pedestal and, with some advice from Greg Nickles, rotated the 3DO instead.
